Yagaya/Havan/Yajna , common Hindu ritual method

Yagya or Havan is a major part of Hindu rituals. Yagya is not a mere worship but a feeling which can be described in words like: renunciation, selfless sacrifice, nishkam yoga etc.

There are many methods of performing Yagya. All the methods are correct because in the Yagya only the spirit of Yagya is important. In the present article, I will describe the Vedic Yagya method and mantras in detail.

Required Materials:

1. Havan Kund

2. Wood: Mango, Peepal, Banyan, Sandal, Cedar (Deodar), Dhak,

In case of non-availability of any of these wood, generally use the available clean wood,

3. Water , in a copper vessel , spoon

4. lamp, brass or clay

5. Ghee / Ghrita, in a clean vessel, spoon

6. incense burner

7. Kapoor (Camphor)

8. Clear bed sheet/mat

9. Matchbox/Lighter

Havan can be performed if the above ingredients are available. Apart from this, use the following ingredients according to your faith.

Idol of the presiding deity, sweets / nuts, roli-dough for making rangoli, kalava, incense sticks, flowers

First Step, Yagya Arrangement:

The right time to perform Yagya is morning or evening. Yagya should not be done after eating food.

Act: Lay the sheet/mat in such a way that the host faces east and the yagya kund(pot) is in front of the host, all other people can sit around the Yagya.

Rangoli can be made with the help of roli and flour, in the middle of which the Yagya altar can be established, otherwise it can also be placed in the middle of flowers. The idol or picture of the presiding deity can also be placed in front of the Havan Kund.

Keep the rest of the material around the Yagya altar.

Three samidhas(piece of wood) per person except the host should be sorted out of wood, the samidha should be smaller than the Havan Kund and should be helpful in burning.

Let all people sit with a calm mind and meditate on the Lord.
